Thursday 25th June

Good Morning Everyone! If you aren't returning to school today, don't worry - you can find home learning here!

As always - please remember to just manage what you can and take things at your own pace. There is no expectation that you need to complete absolutely everything, everyday.

Good Morning! Time to get active!

Writing - Event 3

In the story, the little girl explains what she and Pierre do on rainy days. For your final event or activity, can you think about what you and your character get up to on a rainy day?

  • Draw a picture of your next event. Use the box given on the template or do it in your home learning book.
  • Begin your sentence with 'When it rains...' and describe your event.
  • Consider which FANTASTIC lenses you might use. For example, if it involves going somewhere, use the action lens.
  • Try to include as much detail as possible and use punctuation, conjunctions, neat writing and adjectives. Look at the example under the picture for an idea.

When it rains, we don't mind. We simply come up with an indoor plan. One of our favourite things is to build a gigantic den and fill it with the comfiest, cosiest cushions we can find. Polly likes to add twinkling fairy lights and pretend we are camping on a starry night. Sometimes we have snacks in our rainy day den. Polly's favourite is salty popcorn which is still warm from the microwave. It's such an exciting indoor adventure!

Here is your video for today! Join in and then get writing! :)

Year 1 and Year 2 children are welcome to watch the videos - however I would expect you to write a little more than two sentences. And Year 2, make sure you use conjunctions, adjectives and so on to make your writing even better. Your writing should be more like my example above.

Afternoon - Topic

Today we are continuing with our geography topic. In KS1 children are expected to 'use simple compass directions (North, South, East and West) and locational and directional language [for example, near and far; left and right], to describe the location of features and routes on a map.'

  • Talk with an adult at home about the use of a compass to help with directions. Have at the picture of a compass and talk about why we might use one.
  • If you'd like to get North, South, East and West stuck in your head - this song might help... (parents will really thank me for this song!)
  • Have a go at the two activities included below.
  • You could adapt this activity for outside if you'd like to enjoy the sunshine and create your own garden map to follow!

Mindfulness / Well-Being

Every day we will give you a suggested mindfulness or well-being activity. This is just an idea and is optional.

There is something very therapeutic about blowing bubbles outside.
