Tuesday 23rd June
Tuesday 23rd June
Good Morning Everyone! If you aren't returning to school today, don't worry - you can find home learning here!
As always - please remember to just manage what you can and take things at your own pace. There is no expectation that you need to complete absolutely everything, everyday.
Writing - Event 1
In the original story, the little girl says that every Tuesday she and Pierre travel to the moon for galactic hot chocolate with marshmallow stars.
Today, think of your own adventure or event. What do you and your character do every Tuesday?
- Draw a picture of your first event. Use the box given on the template or do it in your home learning book.
- Begin your sentence with 'Every Tuesday...' and tell me about the adventure you get up to.
- Use the appropriate FANTASTIC lenses for your event. For example, if it involves eating - think about the tasting lens.
- Try to include as much detail as possible and use punctuation, conjunctions, neat writing and adjectives.
I've included an example one for you to see, under the picture on the right hand side of this page.
There's a Penguin in my Freezer
Every Tuesday, me and Polly swim to Antarctica. We confidently dive deep into the freezing ocean and perform awesome tricks underwater. We slide down gigantic ice hills and leap gracefully from one iceberg to the next. It is so much fun! Afterwards, we travel home to warm up by the crackling fire and drink creamy hot chocolate.
In order to ensure consistency for our Reception children, whether they're at home or at school, I will be going back to creating English lesson videos each day. These will be used in school as the English input, and can be accessed by Reception children at home. This should mean you all receive the same teaching.
Year 1 and Year 2 children are welcome to watch the videos - however I would expect you to write a little more than two sentences. And Year 2, make sure you use conjunctions, adjectives and so on to make your writing even better. Your writing should look more like my example above, rather than my example in the video. :)

Suffixes are a key part of the Year 2 English curriculum. Can you add -ful or -less to these root words?
Afternoon - Music
It's been a while since we included a music lesson the virtual classroom. Have a go at this BBC lesson and enjoy experimenting with sound!
Mindfulness / Well-Being
Every day we will give you a suggested mindfulness or well-being activity. This is just an idea and is optional.
- Find some calming music.
- Sit and do some mindfulness colouring and enjoy listening to peaceful tunes!
There are hundreds of free mindfulness colouring sheets online if you use google. :)
