Anglo Saxon Bread
Year 4 and I have spent the day in the sunshine baking.
Yes, baking. We have had an Anglo Saxon themed day and made the bread they would have made.
We had 2 recipes. One for the peasants and another for the royals.
The difference was the ingredients used. The peasants bread was plain old flour and water. The royals used oats, wholemeal flour, white flour, salt and water.
We made the bread on an open fire.
The children really enjoyed the whole process of making bread from scratch to eating it.
The sun was out for the whole day which made our sessions much more enjoyable.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
See you all next week
