Phonics Update – Our Final Sounds of Term 1!

This week in Phonics, we have learnt our final four sounds of the term: h, b, f and l. The children have worked incredibly hard learning their sounds and practising how to recognise, say and write them, as well as make the cued articulation signs for each one. Below, you can watch a lovely video of some of our class proudly demonstrating what they have learnt!

Next week, we will be consolidating all the sounds we have learnt throughout Term 1, building our confidence in recognising sounds, blending them together to read words and practising our segmenting skills for spelling.

We are also very excited to be starting our Little Wandle Reading Practice Sessions next week! This means the children will be bringing home their very first reading books. Please spend some time looking through the book with your child, encouraging them to use their phonics knowledge and celebrating their achievements.

We are so proud of the progress the children have made in their first term of Phonics learning!
